Status Quo are an English rock band who play a brand of boogie rock. The group originated in The Spectres, founded by schoolboys Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster in 1962. After a number of lineup changes, which included the introduction of Rick Parfitt in 1967, the band became The Status Quo in 1967 and Status Quo in 1969.

They have had over 60 chart hits in the UK, more than any other rock band,  including "Pictures of Matchstick Men" in 1968, "Whatever You Want" in 1979 and "In the Army Now" in 1986 and 2010. Twenty-two of these reached the Top 10 in the UK Singles Chart. In July 1985 the band opened Live Aid at Wembley Stadium with "Rockin' All Over the World". In 1991, Status Quo received a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

Status Quo starred in their first feature film, Bula Quo!, which was released to cinemas in July 2013. The film coincided with the release of the soundtrack album Bula Quo!, which peaked at number 10 in the UK Albums Chart. The first single from the album, "Bula Bula Quo" was released in June 2013, and is Status Quo's one hundredth single release.

Caroline" is a single released by the British rock band Status Quo in 1973. It was included on the 1973 album Hello!
It was written by Bob Young and Francis Rossi on a table napkin in the dining room of a hotel in Perranporth, Cornwall, in 1970.

It was the second song Status Quo played at their Live Aid gig in 1985 and it inspired Apollo 440's 1999 single "Stop the Rock".
The song was reprised, in 2014, for the band's thirty-first studio album Aquostic (Stripped Bare).

It was featured in the ninety-minute launch performance of the album at London's Roundhouse on 22 October, the concert being recorded and broadcast live by BBC Radio 2 as part of their In Concert series.

"Down Down" is a popular song by the English rock band Status Quo.
Written by Francis Rossi and Bob Young and produced by Status Quo, "Down Down" was Status Quo's only number one single in the UK Singles Chart. The single spent a week at the top of the chart in January 1975.

It was released on 29 November 1974 on the Vertigo label, paired with the B-side song "Nightride". Both songs came from the album On the Level, which had yet to be released. The album version lasts 5 minutes and 24 seconds and the single version 3 minutes and 49 seconds.

Originally it was titled "Get Down", but this was changed before release, possibly to avoid confusion with the Gilbert O'Sullivan song of the same name.

Towards the end of his life, DJ John Peel was known for playing "Down Down" as part of his eclectic DJ sets.

In 1986 co-writer Bob Young recorded a country style version of "Down Down" to open his solo album In Quo Country.

In July 2012, Status Quo reworked the lyrics to create a three-minute promotional song for the Australian supermarket chain Coles.[4] The chorus chants, "down, down, prices are down". This was released on television and YouTube, the most notable of which depicted a mince rally.

The song was reprised, in 2014, for the band's thirty-first studio album Aquostic (Stripped Bare). It was featured in the ninety-minute launch performance of the album at London's Roundhouse on 22 October and recorded and broadcast live by BBC Radio 2 as part of their In Concert series.

It was featured in the ninety-minute launch performance of the album at London's Roundhouse on 22 October, the concert being recorded and broadcast live by BBC Radio 2 as part of their In Concert series.

Dexy's Midnight Runners covered the song on the B-side of their single "This is What She's Like"; the recording was also included on some reissues of the band's Too-Rye-Ay album.

Rockin' All Over the World is the tenth studio album by the British band Status Quo, released 1977. It is the first of their records to be produced by Pip Williams, and the first to feature Andy Bown as a regular contributor to the band; he would later join the band officially in 1982. It was released in November 1977, and reached #5.

The title track, written and originally recorded by John Fogerty, was released by Quo as a single in September 1977, reaching a peak position of #3. Its b-side was "Ring of a Change", from their previous studio album. No other singles were issued from the album, although "Can't Give You More" was re-recorded by the band in 1991 for their album "Rock 'Til You Drop" and issued as a single, reaching #37.
The album was reissued by Mercury in 2005 with a bonus track—a cover of the Beatles' "Getting Better", which they had initially recorded in 1976 for the soundtrack of the film All This and World War II [Catalog# 982 596-9].

This track was not included on the deluxe edition released in late 2015, however for this reissue the entire album was remixed and re-ordered by original engineer John Eden and added alongside the new remaster. Several of the new mixes feature longer play-outs and the overall sound was stripped back to the core of two guitars, bass and drums, with occasional keyboard parts left in. As a further bonus, four demos were included.

"What You're Proposing" is a single released by the British rock band Status Quo in 1980. It was included on their album Just Supposin'.
The B-side is "A B Blues", a non-album instrumental studio jam. Some later pressings of this single mis-credited Andy Bown as Andy Brown on the B-side composer's credit. The initial pressing run of 75,000 copies of this single were issued with a colour picture sleeve.

Whatever You Want is the twelfth studio album by the British rock band Status Quo and features 10 tracks
This was the band's third album to be produced by Pip Williams. Recording began in December 1978 at Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum, the Netherlands, with the final mixes being completed in London in March 1979. The album was released on 12 October 1979 and entered the chart on 20 October 1979, reaching as high as no. 4. The first single from the album — "Whatever You Want" — was released on 14 September, with "Hard Ride" as the B-side, and also reached a peak position of no. 4.

The second single from the album was "Living on an Island", with the B-side "Runaway". This was released on 16 November 1979 and reached no. 16 in the chart.

The album was remixed for the US market and this version was released in the US with the title Now Hear This in 1980. It was finally released on CD as part of the 2016 deluxe remaster. However this omitted two songs, "Shady Lady" and "Your Smiling Face". These are therefore only available on the original vinyl/cassette/8-track releases. The tracks "Whatever You Want" and "Living On an Island" were also swapped in the running order of the US remixed version.
