The Righeira is a band formed by Italian Stefano "Michael" Rota (Turin, 1 October 1961) and Stefano "Johnson" Righi (Turin, September 9, 1960).

The two met and were born artistically in their Turin in the late seventies. On their debut as a duo they were known as Michael & Johnson Righeira, after deciding to become artistically brothers and adopt both the surname Righeira, that Johnson had jokingly made brasilianizzando his (Righi) while playing soccer in the hours of physical education in high school. In 1980 Johnson Righeira engraved the first 45 laps, White Surf / Photoni (Meccano Records / Italian Records and then reprinted in 1981 by Vip / CGD), with the executive production of Giulio Tedeschi and the artistic Oderso Rubini. The disc played Skiantos and White Surf was also recorded a punk version "" sung in duet by Johnson and Freak Antoni, published only in 2006 in the CD that collects the first material recorded by Johnson and titled punk Ex, now sold (Astroman) .

After the first single, which earned Stefano / Johnson a good reputation in the circles of the then fledgling Italian new wave scene, he realized in a downtown basement of Turin, with the collaboration of Technospray / Monuments, some new specimens including the first version of Vamos a la playa and Italian cover of a song by DAF, "Der Mussolini", renamed "Dances Marinetti" and starring Michael (not yet Righeira) on his debut as a singer under the pseudonym Italo Monitor.

We are at the beginning of 1982, when the two met through mutual friends, the brothers La Bionda, historian duo protagonist of the international dance scene with which snaps empathy destined to change forever the lives of Michael and Johnson. It's October and Johnson, desperate, she has to leave for the military service. La Bionda I understand that you can no longer wait. You enter the studio and Vamos a la playa already close to that final begins to take shape. Johnson part, followed three months later by Michael. The song is painstaking finished until, '83 spring, CGD believes and decides to publish it. It's an explosion. That no one, perhaps not even the La Bionda were expecting so devastating.

Vamos a la playa rampant first in Italy (where it reaches the top of the hit parade and stays there for seven weeks from 20 August to 1 October) and then in Europe, selling over three million copies [2].
