Pierino Ronald "Perry" Como (May 18, 1912 May 12, 2001) was an American singer and television personality. During a career spanning more than half a century, he recorded exclusively for RCA Victor for 44 years after signing with the label in 1943.  "Mr. C.", as he was nicknamed, sold millions of records for RCA and pioneered a musical variety television show.

Como was seen weekly on television from 1948 to 1963, then continued hosting the Kraft Music Hall variety program monthly until 1967.  His television shows and seasonal specials were broadcast throughout the world.  Also a popular recording artist, Perry Como released numerous hit records from the 1940s through the 1970s.  Como's appeal spanned generations and he was universally respected for both his professional standards and the conduct in his personal life.

And I Love You So

And I Love You So was Perry Como's 21st 12" long-play album released by RCA Records.

As with It's Impossible, this album was issued to feature a surprise hit single,  Don McLean's "And I Love You So". Como brought the song to the national top 40 (Number One Easy Listening).

Previous versions of the song by Elvis Presley, Bobby Goldsboro and Bobby Vinton had met with mild or no success. Como's version was so successful, RCA asked him to record the song in Spanish. When Como said he didn't speak the language, he received personal Spanish lessons from the head of RCA International to get the record made.  As in recent Como LP's, this collection features selections from then contemporary recording artists such as Roberta Flack, The Carpenters, Ray Price, Tony Orlando and Dawn, Bread and Mac Davis.

Catch a Falling Star

"Catch a Falling Star", written by Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss, is a song made famous by Perry Como's hit version, recorded and released in late 1957.

It was Como's last #1 hit,  reaching #1 on the Billboard "Most Played by Jockeys" chart but not in the overall top 100, where it reached #2   It was the first single to receive a gold record certification, on March 14, 1958.

The song also topped the Australian charts in 1958. The single won Como the 1959 Grammy Award for Best Vocal Performance, Male. Its melody is based on a theme from Brahms' Academic Festival Overture. The Como version features the Ray Charles Singers, who sing the refrain as a repeated round.

The song has been featured in several films, including The Princess Diaries, Love Actually, Everybody's Fine and Never Been Kissed. It was often featured in the TV series Lost, and was most often associated with Claire Littleton and her baby, Aaron.

A musical phrase from the song appears in John Williams's score for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull during the motorcycle chase through the college.
