The complex, which is named after the novel by Giuseppe Marotta, was founded in the late sixties when two brothers of Naples, Paolo Morelli (piano and vocals) and Bruno Morelli (guitars), coming from a family where one breathed music (his father Ardelio, Tuscany Fucecchio, was a talented violinist and songwriter, of which the best known is the hand of the Lord for Little Tony, and mother Maria a popular pianist), chose the path of music and moved to Rome. There they met Giulio Leofrigio (drums) and Giampaolo Borra (bass), who joined their musical project. Initially it was part of the band also Antonio Rapicavoli (saxophone), who left the complex after the publication of the individual The Kite and Concerto.

At the time of the last stirrings of the Italian beat, the complex took its first steps thanks to Renzo Arbore participating as a permanent guest in the TV show Special for you, the vanguard of the talk show with artists, singers and complex era, to which the young people in the study addressed questions: the band of pupils of the Sun musically accompanied guests. And I miss you so much ... is a collection of new and old songs from the repertoire that scale the hit parade. Jenny and Doll (1974) as well as the next Flaming masks (1976) are two important LP in the panorama of Italian melodic song, in which the group reaches the artistic peak. The fifth album 'A Canzuncella (1977), produced by Gian Piero Reverberi, is very popular among the public, thanks to the title track that became a classic of modern Neapolitan songs, re-recorded by many artists including Enrico Ruggeri album Contacts in 1989 Ornella Vanoni album a sandwich and a beer then ... in 2001.

Even the next Liu (1978), the first disc for Ricordi, is a success, and with the title track, the group won the Festivalbar 1978; After this album Leofrigio and Borra left the band and are replaced by Gianfranco Coletta (former member of Chetro & Co. and Banco del Mutuo Soccorso) and Ruggero Stefani (former member of the pupils, of Fholks, the Egg of Columbus and Equipe 84).
