Kenneth Clark "Kenny" Loggins (born January 7, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist.  His early songwriting compositions were recorded with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1970,  which led to seven albums, performing as the group Loggins and Messina from 1972 to 1977. As a solo artist, Loggins experienced a string of soundtrack successes, including an Academy Award nomination for "Footloose" in 1984.

His early soundtrack contributions date back to the film A Star Is Born in 1976, and for much of the 1980s and 90s, he was known as "The Soundtrack King". Finally Home was released in 2013, shortly after Loggins formed the group Blue Sky Riders with Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman.

Footloose" is a song co-written and recorded by American singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins. It was released in January 1984 as the first of two singles by Loggins from the 1984 film of the same name (the other one being "I'm Free (Heaven Helps the Man)"). The song spent three weeks at number one, March 31—April 14, 1984 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and was the first of two number-one hits from the film. Billboard ranked it at the No. 4 song for 1984.

The song was very well received, and is one of the most recognizable songs recorded by Loggins. When the American Film Institute released its AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs, "Footloose" reached the 96th position. The song was covered by country music artist Blake Shelton for the 2011 remake of the 1984 film. The song has also been parodied by "Weird Al" Yankovic ("Hooked on Polkas").  It was also made available as downloadable content for the Rock Band series. Kids Incorporated covered "Footloose" in 1984 in the Season 1 episode "Space Case". PureNRG sang "Footloose" on their 2007 debut album PureNRG.

It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 1985 ceremony, losing to Stevie Wonder's I Just Called to Say I Love You from The Woman in Red.

The single version is slightly shorter in length compared to the album version. It begins with a soloed guitar track instead of a drum intro, and features more prominent backing vocals in the mix, particularly towards the end of the song.

Welcome to Heartlight" is a Kenny Loggins song from his 1982 concept album, High Adventure.

While many fans perceive this song as being inspired by the Steven Spielberg film E.T., it is really about a school in Southern California that's actually called "Heartlight". The song was inspired by writings from students from that school. On most pressings of High Adventure and on some Loggins greatest hits compilation albums, it is officially titled simply "Heartlight". The title was expanded to "Welcome to Heartlight" to avoid confusion with Neil Diamond's song also called "Heartlight".

It was released as a single in early 1983 and peaked at number 24 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number 17 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

"For the First Time" is a 1996 song from the 1996 film One Fine Day starring Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney with music and lyrics by James Newton Howard, Jud J. Friedman, and Allan Dennis Rich and performed by Kenny Loggins.

The song was included in the soundtrack of the film and was Loggins' one and only number one hit on the Adult Contemporary chart. "For the First Time" spent two weeks at number one and peaked at number sixty on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart.

"For the First Time" did not make the Billboard Hot 100 chart as it was not made available as a commercial single, which at that time made it ineligible to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. "For the First Time" was nominated for the Best Original Song.

The song also has accompanying music video, and Kenny Loggins shaved off all of his trademark facial hair for the video. He can be seen clean shaven in the music video.
