Lara Crokaert (born January 9, 1970), better known as Lara Fabian, is an Italian-Belgian singer. She has sold over 20 million records worldwide  and is one of the best-selling Belgian female artist of all time.

She was born in Etterbeek, Brussels to a Belgian father and a Sicilian mother. Since 1996 she has also held a Canadian citizenship alongside her original Belgian citizenship.

Fabian is the only child of Pierre Crokaert, who is Flemish, and Maria Luisa Serio, a native of Sicily. She spent her first five years in her mother's hometown of Catania in Sicily. After that she moved to Ruisbroek near Brussels, Belgium. Italian was her first language.

She began singing, dancing and taking piano lessons at a young age, and began formal music lessons at age eight. She began writing and performing her own songs during her ten years of formal music study. Fabian's songs were influenced by her classical vocal training and by contemporary artists such as Barbra Streisand and Queen.

She was named Lara after the main character of the novel Doctor Zhivago. Her professional name is a modified spelling of the given name of an uncle, Fabiano.

During the 1980s, Fabian entered a number of European competitions and won several prizes. She released her first single, "L'Aziza est en pleurs" / "Il y avait" in 1986. Both songs were written by the Belgian composer Marc Lerchs as an homage to Daniel Balavoine.

In 1988, the RTL TV channel in Luxembourg invited Fabian to represent the country at the 33rd Eurovision Song Contest, held that year in Dublin, Ireland. The song was a composition by Jacques Cardona and Alain Garcia entitled Croire (Trust) which reached a respectable fourth place (while Celine Dion won the contest representing Switzerland). The single became a hit in Europe, selling nearly 500,000 copies.[citation needed]

In 1990, Fabian and musical collaborator Rick Allison moved to Montreal, Canada to embark on a career in North America. They started their own music label and publishing company, Productions Clandestines.

In August 1991, the self-titled, French-language, debut album, Lara Fabian, was released in Canada and sold over 100,000 copies. The album went gold in 1993, and platinum the following year. The success of upbeat Dance-pop singles such as "Le jour où tu partira", "Les murs", and "Qui pense à l'amour" gave Fabian the radio exposure she needed. She received several nominations at the 1993 ADISQ awards, and a poll published around that time[when?] voted her Québec's most promising singer.

"I Will Love Again" is a song by the Belgian singer Lara Fabian. It was released as the second single of her self-titled album in 2000. It was her first English single.

The song was a top ten hit in Belgium, Canada, New Zealand and Spain and reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play. It peaked at number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song received a positive reception from most music critics. William Ruhlmann picked the track as the "Album's best track" in his Allmusic review.  The Dooyoo review was extremely positive, and it said: "This is the strongest track on the album - a real pop song with great uptempo beat. Written by Paul Barry and Mark Taylor, and co-produced by Brian Rawling, its easily the most modern song on the album, and should have been a huge hit with the correct promotion. It actually was a huge hit in some parts of the world, including Spain and performed well in the US too. Fabian sings optimistically about getting over a broken heart and finding a new love. 10/10".

Adagio is a single CD, CD maxi and 12 "record, recorded in 1999 by Belgian-Canadian singer Lara Fabian and extracted from the artist's eponymous album.The song, released in English and Italian, is an adaptation of the Adagio in G minor by Tomaso Albinoni and Remo Giazotto. Authors of the text in English are the same Lara Fabian (also author of the text of the Italian version), Bruce Roberts, Rick Allison and Dave Pickell

The album, released on Epic Records label and produced by Rick Allison, reached the third place in the rankings in Wallonia and the fifth in France.

The Fabian song later became very popular and was re-performed by various artists.
