Riccardo Luciano Ligabue, simply known as Ligabue or Liga (Correggio, March 13, 1960), is a songwriter, director, writer and screenwriter Italian.

Almost all the pieces of this album, which has very close to a rock'n'roll sound of American-style, will become, in fact, classics from his repertoire and will break between the young audience, from live, dead or X and You a moment, God ?, through Light until reaching Some nights, song voted by readers of the music magazine All as the "best Italian song of the nineties" [10], also winner of the Targa Tenco as best song of the year. The album, considered by most as the top artist's composition, will sell more than 1,200,000 copies, getting the European IFPI Platinum Record and winning three awards to the then "Music Prize Italian PIM".

In 1996 he performed at Pavarotti & Friends with an unusual version of Some nights, a duet with the "host" Luciano Pavarotti.

The golden age of the singer continues in 1997 with the release of Up and down from a stage, double live album recorded with the addition of three new songs: The day of sorrow that one has, between stage and reality and Last Tango in Memphis, the latter cover of Suspicious Minds Elvis Presley. The advantage of not having been touched up in the studio is partly offset negatively by being a collage of parts registered in various concerts. Also this album breaks through the wall of a million copies, and is the first Italian to achieve this live ..

1998 publishes the soundtrack of his directorial debut Radiofreccia containing among other I lost the words, circulating Put your love and we are on the air. The second CD of the work is a collection of tracks foreign inserted in the film; there are artists like David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Lynyrd Skynyrd representing musical background and the source of inspiration of the singer, along with songwriters like Bob Dylan and Neil Young.

In 1999, together with Jovanotti and Pelù, who has just left Litfiba, it affects My name is never, antiwar song from which is produced a single with proceeds going to charity: the three are signed LigaJovaPelù. Audiences and critics are divided between those who welcomed the initiative and who emphasizes the rhetoric and the supposed anti-Americanism of the piece and the attached videos, which in any case will result in the end the best selling of the year.

This year also saw the sixth Miss World album, four years after Happy Birthday Elvis. This work presents many new ideas, since the arrangements (are, for example, introduced the arches in two songs), until you get to the texts, who drop out of the "narrative structure" and aim rights to disillusionment by the staff, who questions about what is happening around him. Even this album is a success thanks all'autobiografica One Life to mediate, to It comes and it goes and I think. The video for the latter song takes a famous mini-films of Bob Dylan's Subterranean homesick blues, recorded with the collaboration and the appearance of numerous Italian artists, including the writer Wing Violence.

"" Some nights, "is a song that I am grateful and I will be long-practiced grateful. »
During the interview with the journalist Vincenzo Mollica for the construction of the DVD dedicated to him Words and songs, the singer said that one night, almost as a challenge, he decided to write a song with all agreements in shades me, and they had to replace King # half diminished expected, with a natural king, because he was worried about getting a dissonance too strong in the melody. However, apart from this detail, he says to be successful in and created so what later would become one of his most famous songs.

In the same interview, also he said that he would not want to introduce the song as the first single from the album, because in previous work these pieces were decidedly more rock and fast, like Rock The World in Ligabue or Libera nos a malo in Lambrusco knives roses & popcorn, but, curiously, just heard the song, the record company had almost forced him saying, of course, the song is there !.
