Pooh are an Italian pop band formed in 1966 in Bologna.

Over the course of their career they have sold over 100 million records. Pooh's original members were Bob Gillot, Riccardo Fogli, Valerio Negrini and Dodi Battaglia. In the summer of 1966, Roby Facchinetti replaced Gilot and in 1971 the band recruited Stefano D'Orazio, the drummer of the Naufraghi, to replace Negrini, who stayed as main lyricist. The most enduring line-up was established in 1973, when Fogli left the group and was replaced by Red Canzian, a progressive rock guitarist who quickly learned to play the bass. In 2009 drummer Stefano D'Orazio announced his intention to leave the band after the summer tour. D'Orazio has been replaced by English drummer Steve Ferrone although the band officially remains a trio. On the occasion of their 50th anniversary, Stefano D'Orazio and Riccardo Fogli returned.

In 1971 the Pooh go to CBS and producer Giancarlo Lucariello come the first great satisfaction. The single strong desire for her lands to the number one ranking in two weeks. The same happens with Thought, which sold over one million copies (despite all consider it a piece of love, the song speaks of a prisoner). Both singles come in the South American standings, leaping immediately to the first places, selling in a few months 450,000 and 1,200,000 copies respectively. [6] Opera released the album first, an LP that fuses the symphonic music (as in the title track) to the Italian melody.

Valerio Negrini leaves the group, while remaining as a lyricist. It is replaced by Stefano D'Orazio, the Roman drummer who had previously played in bands such as The Shipwreck and The Spot. The Pooh record some of their songs in English: All the three become The Suitcase and CBS decides to add to a collection that includes the best artists of their vast catalog. Strong desire for her comes second to the Festivalbar.

In 1972 it still says the worldwide success, thanks to singles impressive and dramatic as the two of us in the world and in the soul (I will bear back with you), what can be said about you (back when a she goes away). The record company is undecided about which of two single focus more. So, not to make a wrong interpretation or Dodi in two of us in the world and in the soul nor the increasingly sluggish Riccardo to be born with you, she decides to publish the 45s as a double A-side, choosing a white cover for cover with only the group name in the foreground and the picture of the four.

To be born with you is reserved the role of song to be included in the jukebox, while two of us in the world and the soul will become the song devoted to radio promotion; from London comes the Minimoog synthesizer, who makes a cameo appearance in this song. The Alessandra album marks an increased presence of Roby in item (up to that time had split especially Dodi and Riccardo) and sees for the first time the signing of Dodi Battaglia as composer of the music.

Because of the influence of Lucariello, the complex puts aside his instrumental skills to make way for this most elegant arches concert Franco Monaldi. Beyond that, on this record producer manages to impose (for the first and only time) the album is made up exclusively of love songs. This is a disc where it disappears almost entirely on the electric guitar, replaced mainly by acoustic arpeggios Dodi, there are no "just" guitar is impeding the ups and downs of 12 orchestral pieces of which consists of the disc.

The item offers Roby suffered interpretations as in my father one evening or our difficult age. At this point Richard Sheets decides to leave the group to pursue a solo career. In his view, in fact, the producer tends to privilege the voice of Dodi at the expense of his. The group seems about to melt, when after endless selections held in the laundry room of a hotel in the Tuscan-Emilian (beginning of 1973), to Roncobilaccio is chosen a new bassist, Red Canzian, guitarist of a band progressive, Capsicum Red, which assets could boast two singles and a top-rated 33 laps. Red Canzian Pooh met in 1971 at the time of the Festivalbar, and after more than three hundred bassists undergo auditions, the group came to him that this young man to Treviso would have been ideal.

In 1973 he released Parsifal disc, LP complex and large instrumental and lyrical flow. Anticipated by the single You and I for other days and Infiniti us, this LP uniquely mixture in the Italian symphonic derivation of British pop with the sophisticated tunes of Roby Facchinetti (as Parsifal or homonymous year, the place, hour): if the musical style seems to direct them towards bulky comparisons such as Pink Floyd and Genesis, the choirs of the four report directly to the Beatles and the Bee Gees. The title track marks a major milestone in the history of the complex, as its second part is purely instrumental. This is perhaps the first piece of the group where the lead guitar Dodi reaches for evidence and quality of remarkable results.

The song Letter from Marienbad is chosen as B side of the single You and me for another day and left out of the album version 33 laps, although it is regularly included in the tracklist of stereo8 version of the same. In 1974, with the collection Pooh 1971-1974, closing an era of great achievements. Are included in the disc If you know, if you can, and if you want something for you still, used as side A of its 45 turns, which also include And I would. The songs, sorted according to a fairly rigid chronological order, point home how rapid was the musical maturation in the Pooh style in these four years. The two single still do not reach the success of the previous.

1975 is a year of transition. The heavy load of symphonic music and opera often dreamlike and difficult blend in two LP modest commercial success. A bit 'of our time better looks like an LP too difficult for the audience of Pooh, accustomed to fast songs outlet. The orchestra's massive use of tools like the harpsichord and long instrumental pieces certainly does not favor an easy transition Radio. They are not singles, but remain to remember songs like Eleonora my mother with the debut of D'Orazio as a lyricist and Time, a woman, the city, a piece of more than 10 minutes considered, for the length, the majesty and for a short instrumental queue as a kind of bis Parsifal.

Perhaps even poetry can sell as Parsifal: Lullaby, chosen to promote the album can barely get into the top 10 of the individual. [7] It must be said that the basic orchestral arrangements had been imposed by

2016 officially begins the celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of the band and POOH, for the first time in five training in February will perform on stage of the Sanremo Festival while in March aired a special television in prime time on Rai 1 dedicated to the history of group. Tanta voglia di Lei - Pooh
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZigfH2-4Ivg

Strong desire for her is the story of a betrayal, the protagonist, however, repented of fling with another woman, she decides to return to his beloved. Particularly the instrumental introduction effect, entrusted to a sumptuous concert 22 arches, suggested to Pooh by the arranger of the album, Franco Monaldi.

Alessandra - Pooh
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ey8zX_M9E8

Encouraged by the success achieved just with the individual in the previous year, Pooh album this time realize a very accurate, consistent and lavishly arranged. The complex has still a great tribute of gratitude to the authorities and the manufacturer, which can, for the first and last time, to get that whole disc's sole theme the love song. It shines an image of youthful life hindered by the work of parents (Our difficult age, my father one evening), characterized by love that suddenly shatters (What can you say about yourself?), With a great desire for revenge ( I in a story, Via her away I) and also many doubts and second thoughts. The track guide is the famous two of us in the world and in the soul. Closes the album the song Alessandra, dedicated to the birth of the first daughter of Roby Facchinetti and up to that point the longest piece of the complex career.
The arrangement of Gianfranco Monaldi orchestral strings emphasizes virtuous energy the emotional nature of the texts, fresh rich passion from their twenties (but also bitter disappointments). In terms of the contribution of the four instrumentalists, this album less rock the Pooh history: the Battle of electric guitar appears only in a few pieces, leaving plenty of space and avoiding the orchestra performing real solos. On the other hand is used one of the most important pop seventies news: the Moog synthesizer, instrument used with a certain generosity, as well as two of us in the world and in the soul, in my father one evening.
Compared to the prior year's production, it is new to the Dodi Battaglia debut as a composer (bear his signature the three songs I in a story, and Mrs. Via her away I).
The album was a great success, far surpassing sales of the previous First Film (sells 250,000 copies). Across all disks in the group, it is perhaps more oriented towards what according to the record company had to be the female audience, as most seem to suggest the title and the cover photo. The first printing of vinyl contains a card with pictures of members of the group and the credits of the disc. On the cover are recognizable Valerio Negrini and the orchestra musicians accompanying the complex.

Parsifal 1-2 - Pooh
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2BEu_xpof8

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLOeUE6LYn0

The album The Cure, 1996, is an ode to one of the most important of human feelings. In the song that gives title to the album the four singers tell the story of a life of love and solidarity; a feeling of mutual respect and unity that goes beyond any obstacle that resists any revolution: "You can raise flags, quarreling with God, changing family and the city ... but between friends there is never a goodbye!" Between the folds but friendship is also peeping love, that just because of absolute fidelity to a companion in adventure becomes impossible.

La casa del sole - Pooh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6x8oQNh85hc

The House of the Rising Sun was also recorded by several Italian artists and a text in Italian. The music of the Italian publication refer mainly to the Animals version. Another highlight is the house of the sun of Los Marcellos Ferial and Riki Maiocchi: the text, the work of Mogul and Vito Pallavicini, completely distorts the meaning of the song, turning it into a love story. engraved Maiocchi also another version entitled Do not tell my mother written by Gigi River, which was censored because it was considered an alleged incitement to suicide. In fact, the song speaks clearly of a prisoner on death row, waiting for the sentence to be carried out. In 2008, the Pooh have entered the house of the sun on their album Beat reGeneration.

In Silenzio - Pooh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKNsWv13eQs

The interpretation of the song, in the original version is entrusted to Richard Sheets, who is running a revised, with orchestral arrangement, in his self-titled album of 1976, when after three years he left the Pooh.
Repeated in live concerts from 1981, in the tour of Good Luck, along with the medley of sixties songs, Silently find new life by the powerful interpretation, piano and vocals, Roby Facchinetti. I have revived the Pooh, studio version from 1990 version which then has found a place in some compilations of the nineties.

Dammi solo un minuto - Pooh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZWfZYY6lXM

Just give me a minute is signed by Facchinetti-Negrini couple. The song, released as a single to promote the album Rolling breathing, successfully climbed the charts, remaining popular support even with a lucky covers designed by Gemelli Diversi, who have sampled the chorus for their single A moment yet; this was a decisive factor in the success achieved by the song of several Gemini.
He remained a workhorse repeated in most of the official anthologies in circulation. The songs were often replicated live within medley; How do you generally was revived in unplugged version, introduced by Facchinetti with the use of the Glockenspiel.
The song Just give me a minute born as a potential single from the stage of the quartet recording; Roby Facchinetti writes this enthralling melody on which Valerio Negrini has many difficulties to enter a text height. It will write many versions before finding the final, which will prove to be the first of drafts, previously rejected by Pooh because it did not consider the impact and effective as the melody of the piece might suggest. The song interpreter is Roby Facchinetti, as in the previous Linda.
The single was also released in Spanish (Dame sólo a minute / Qué ha sido de ti) and English version titled Give me only this moment, for the translation of producer Teddy Randazzo.

Ninna Nanna - Pooh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8QAm7ODEoI

Lullaby (Facchinetti-Negrini) [3] is a short love song from the veiled and dreamlike atmospheres. The idea of Roby was to create a composition sung polyphonically for four voices; However, the musical motif of Lullaby not allowed to satisfactorily carry out the purpose and the piece, composed of a single melody repeated several times with variations, was finally sung in unison (in return, such a project would find a realization much later, in the Northern song album Only entries Tropico). [4] On a tour of the beginning of '76, Ninna Nanna was introduced by a series of instrumental pieces that would later be re-used in subsequent LP, as instrumental parts of Sara songs in the sun, a tear History, and one came from long foreign ; these instrumental traits of pop-rock flavor followed the song with its soft and quiet atmosphere, but without orchestral accompaniment, replaced by keyboards. Lullaby song was included as a guide in the album Perhaps poetry and later found a place in the collection The Pooh 1975-1978.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWFn1-i6KPQ

Awakening is a well known instrumental piece composed by Roby Facchinetti. He repeats the same melody but revived in an orchestral crescendo that resolves to the end in a diminuendo. Plays a prominent role in the contribution of Dody with steel guitar, used by Pooh in a few known pieces (like this or Even in a year). The song is often performed in live concerts, even in combination with other pieces of the time. The piece was also used as the back of Linda in singles for international market.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SXo0AGssdw

Infiniti noi is a 45 Pooh Parsifal from the album. This is a song from the romantic text sung by Dodi Battaglia, whose motif is repeated several times with the sole accompaniment of orchestra and piano. In the second part of the song emerges an orchestral crescendo after the workpiece half the bass come into play and the battery while the accompaniment becomes more heated with the addition of the choir and wind instruments. Highly successful, was included in several collections, including The Pooh 1971-1974, Another thought, and The Best of Pooh.

Thought / A minute from love is a 45-pound of the Pooh released in 1971; was the second single recorded for CBS.

Thought tells the story of a prisoner, in fact innocent, who can reach the woman who loves only with thought; is one of the most acclaimed and most sung pieces by the public in the group tours:

Piccola Katy - Pooh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJmEsd2ZFCo

Silent / Little Katy is a 45-ounce of the Pooh, released in 1968. It was the first single of the group to enter the first 15 positions of the Hit parade.

The single was conceived in 1967 but was released on February 2, 1968. Although Piccola Katy was the piece of Lato B of the record, this song was more successful than the facade A (In silence).

The songs were soon included in the Contrasto LP, withdrawn from the trade after just a week. The first live performance of the album was in the Rai program "Settevoci", conducted by Pippo Baudo, to which only Riccardo and Roby were invited to sing Piccola Katy in playback.

The song, which had not created particular enthusiasm at the record company, turned out to be among the most popular on both radio and early group concerts. The façade A, In silence, was on his side rather appreciated, also thanks to the passionate interpretation of Riccardo Fogli.

The two songs were re-proposed starting from the Good luck tour, when in the lineup, after a long pause, the Pooh started playing their songs from the sixties again.

This choice is to be interpreted as a sort of rehabilitation of the pieces: during the nineties it was recorded a more modern and rearranged version, included in the collections, starting from 25: our story.

It is noteworthy that in the new recording the spoken intermezzo of Piccola Katy, replaced by an electric guitar solo, has been eliminated.

At the beginning of the new millennium, the songs were still present permanently in the Pooh concert ladders. Often, they are also re-proposed by the original 1968 interpreter, Riccardo Fogli.

Little Katy was republished in an unprecedented 5-voice version on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Pooh, in September 2016.

Chi fermerà la musica - Pooh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ob_4QArUES4

The single anticipated the release of the album Good luck. The music itself is the main theme of the two songs and the cover. The latter shows the Pooh in black suit, black tie and playful pose (clothing is a tribute to both the Beatles and the movie The Blues Brothers); the four exchanged the instruments.

"Who will stop the music" was dedicated to the memory of John Lennon. Later it became one of the group's best-known songs and was regularly performed in the concerts of the ensemble before the final Again in a year. It is a merry hymn to music on whose future is projected but also a shadow: there are figures that could stop the music; they are described as infallible characters that never change their minds (this is a criticism of some municipal administrations of the time, which did not always favor - as hoped by the Pooh - the artistic work of the tours). The song also gave the title to the television program Chi stop the music, produced over twenty years later.
In 2016, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the band, the Pooh record a 5-voice rearranged version of Chi that will stop the music.
The back "Banda nel vento" is one of the many autobiographical pieces published by the group at the turn of the seventies and eighties. At the concerts of the time, he introduced and concluded the live medley of the older pieces that the Pooh presented to the public. It tells the public the old times of the Pooh, always around the highways in search of an artistic statement.

Rotolando Respirando -  Pooh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siULg8ieQz8

Rolling breathing is the tenth album by Pooh, released in autumn 1977.

Initially, the album was conceived as a metropolitan concept-album, inspired by the new punk movement that took hold in Italy, but after the first two songs the pen of Valerio Negrini seems not able to fit perfectly all the texts, and so the author of the texts would have been forced to change the idea.

Tends to take up the somewhat neglected love themes in the previous album, Poohlover: in general, the everyday subjects of city life, preponderant in Poohlover, are integrated into love stories and act as social background songs: That's how themes reappear urban as the birth of free radio (Sara in the sun, Live in the wind), commuting and barbonism (Sara in the sun), the anonymity of the city metropolitan (Bella) or the peripheral and highway landscapes (Rolling breathing).

At the same time the contribution of the symphonic orchestra is reduced, now present only in a couple of passages.

The record is mixed twice, because in the first session the Pooh realized they had made the wrong arrangements and had to redo everything with expensive shifts in the recording room.
