Peter Paul Cetera born September 13, 1944) is an American singer, songwriter, and bassist best known for being an original member of the rock band Chicago (1967–1985),  before launching a successful solo career. His career as a recording artist encompasses seventeen albums with Chicago and eight solo albums.
With "If You Leave Me Now," a song written and sung by Cetera on the group's tenth album, Chicago garnered its first Grammy Award. It was also the group's first number one single.

As a solo artist, Cetera has scored six Top 40 singles, including two that reached number one on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1986, "Glory of Love" and "The Next Time I Fall."  "Glory of Love," the theme song from the film, The Karate Kid Part II, was co-written by Cetera, David Foster and Diane Nini, and was nominated for both an Academy Award  and a Golden Globe Award for best original song from a motion picture.

  In 1987 he received an ASCAP award for "Glory of Love" in the category, "Most Performed Songs from Motion Pictures."  His performance on "Glory of Love" was nominated for a Grammy Award for best pop male vocal. That same year Cetera and Amy Grant, who duetted on "The Next Time I Fall," were nominated for a Grammy Award for best vocal performance by a pop duo or group.

Besides David Foster and Amy Grant, Cetera has collaborated throughout his career with other nationally known and internationally known recording artists from various genres of music including: The Beach Boys, Billy Joel, Karen Carpenter, Paul Anka, Agnetha Fältskog, Richard Sterban, Bonnie Raitt, Madonna, David Gilmour, Az Yet, Cher, Chaka Khan, Crystal Bernard, Ronna Reeves, and Alison Krauss. His songs have been featured in soundtracks for movies and television.

In 2014, the first album by the group Chicago, Chicago Transit Authority (Columbia, 1969), with Cetera on bass and vocals, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.  Cetera was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Chicago in April 2016,  and Cetera, Robert Lamm, and James Pankow are among the 2017 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees for their songwriting efforts as members of the group.

After All" is a 1989 Billboard Hot 100 hit song performed as a duet by American singer and actress Cher and American singer and bass player Peter Cetera (former lead vocalist of Chicago), released on February 21, 1989 by Geffen Records. It was used as the love theme for the movie Chances Are and was nominated for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards 1989.  The song was also the first North American single release from Cher's nineteenth album Heart of Stone. The song appears on Peter Cetera's 1997 album You're The Inspiration - A Collection.

The Next Time I Fall" is a 1986 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 song  written by Bobby Caldwell and Paul Gordon, recorded as a duet by Peter Cetera and Amy Grant for Cetera's 1986 album Solitude/Solitaire, and as a solo by Caldwell himself for his 1988 album Heart of Mine. The single reached No. 1 on both the Adult Contemporary chart and the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.  It went to No. 1 in December 1986, remaining in that position for one week. It was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

As a duet, the song was Grant's first of two No. 1 pop singles and her first foray into the secular music field (she had scored several No. 1 singles in Contemporary Christian Music previously). Grant released the song on her Greatest Hits 1986–2004 album and the music video on the corresponding Greatest Hits 1986-2004 DVD.

The music video was released in 1986 and shows Cetera and Grant singing in a room with people dancing.The video was directed by Dominic Sena.

"If You Leave Me Now" is the title of a popular hit ballad by the American rock group Chicago, from their album Chicago X. It was written and sung by bass guitar player Peter Cetera and released as a single on July 31, 1976. It is also the title of a compilation album released by Columbia Records (Columbia 38590) in 1983.

The single topped the US charts on October 23, 1976, and stayed there for two weeks, making it the first number one hit for the group as well as hitting number one on the Easy Listening charts.  It also reached number one in the UK on November 13, 1976, maintaining the position for three weeks.

Glory of Love" is a 1986 song by Peter Cetera written and composed by Cetera, David Foster, and Cetera's then-wife Diane Nini, and recorded by Cetera shortly after he left the band Chicago to pursue a solo career.

Featured in the 1986 film The Karate Kid Part II, it was Cetera's first hit single after he left the band, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and it was included on his 1986 album, Solitude/Solitaire, which Michael Omartian produced.
