Echt was a German pop group from Flensburg , which was founded in 1994. With the song you do not have love in you , she had her biggest success in 1999, before she disappeared in 2002.

The members of Echt got to know each other at their common school and started their career as a school band Seven Up at the Kurt-Tucholsky-Schule (KTS) in Flensburg, which was supervised by the then music teacher Dietmar Wagner. The occupation remained unchanged throughout the active period.

The self-titled debut album was released in 1998. Although none of the singled out singles reached the top 10 in Germany, the videos of the songs Everything will change and we have done so on the music transmitter VIVA Germany so frequently played that the band tremendous popularity especially Youthful audience. Media such as the Bravo tried to establish the image of a German boy band, even if the band itself always rejected this and emphasized its origins as a student band.

The group reached the summit of their success in 1999 with their second album Freischwimmer and their first top 10 hit You do not carry any love in you . Headlines made the band members, among others, as they for the shooting of the music video to the song in 2010 naked on the Hamburg Reeperbahn ran. In 2000 the group with the single Junimond , a cover version of the title of Rio Reiser , was once again successful.

Having been regularly used by professional songwriters, the musicians wrote for the third album recorder for the first time all the songs themselves. The sales figures of the album, which finally appeared in 2001, however, were far behind expectations. Also the ticket sales for the tour ran unsatisfactory, some shows were moved to smaller halls, the planned second part of the tour was canceled. The last single from the album recorder was called " Standstlieben" and remained unsuccessful. A new studio album, which was originally announced for 2002, was no longer possible. Instead the end of 2002 the separation of real was announced.

In 2011, the band was once again on the stage on the occasion of a memorial concert for the late artist Walter Welke .
