Those were a musical group Italian active in the so-called season beat . The winery was founded in 1964 as the "Black Devils" but soon becomes the support assembly of Gian Pieretti , changing the name in "The Griffins" .

The initial formation of the Black Devils, and then the Grifoni, includes Franz Di Ciocco , Franco Mussida , Pino Favaloro and Tony Gesualdi. It songwriter Gian Pieretti (which at that time records for Vedette ) to present the musicians of the band to the Dischi Ricordi , who decided to put them under contract. The complex then hires a new singer, Antonio Teocoli , nicknamed Teo (formerly with the Demon complex, but that time has just released a 45 rpm as a soloist, I woke up , always to remember) and changed its name to Those , starting a career as a beat band, recording in 1965 the first 45 laps, Gone with the wind , song composed by Franco Mussida, but is not yet a member of SIAE, for which it is signed by Ricky Gianco and Gian Pieretti .

The second single, a doll that makes no no no (cover of a song by French singer Michel Polnareff ), is enjoying success, but at the end of the year Tony Gesualdi leaves the partnership, replaced by Giorgio Piazza , while Mussida, departing to perform military service in the Navy, it was replaced by Alberto Radius (coming from Simon & Penny , and even before he had played in Big Ben's ) for two years.

At the beginning of 1967 the formation expands with the arrival of Flavio Premoli (keyboardist from Varese from Cubs ), and this is the formation that affects the third disc, To live together , version of Happy Together the Turtles ), this quite successful, which is not, however, repeated the following 45 laps, back child (cover of Hole in My Shoe of Traffic ) and I felt strange , so Teocoli has resigned to pursue a solo career, signing a contract with the Clan Celentano , that affect, again in 1968, two 45s, Carolina nu part cchiù and the vitamins (two years later will enter the Italian cast of the musical Hair , working together with Loredana Bertè ).

Meanwhile a song by Those, Dictation to the hair , is inserted in the soundtrack of the film Italian Capriccio , particularly in the episode The monster Sunday of Steno , where Toto plays a maniac chasing hippies to cut their hair .

After the 45 Tears and rain , cover of Rain and tears of Aphrodite's Child , Franco Mussida, absolved his military service, is fully part in his role decreeing the expulsion of the guitarist Radius (who shortly thereafter, along with Gabriele Lorenzi, former organist of the Samurai before and Chameleons then merge the Formula 3 ).

1969 is the year of the only LP of the band, which contains, among other cover, a remake of Hush of Joe South (written in 1967 for the British singer Billy Joe Royal ) - famous interpretation in 1968 of the English band Deep Purple - and Thoughts , translation from the thoughts of emerlist davjack of Nice (choice, this, that portends future progressive developments of the complex).

Meanwhile Mussida, Di Ciocco, Premoli and Piazza also started an activity of session men in the studies Remember, participating in recordings of other artists such as Lucio Battisti (in almost all its production since 1969), Mina , Adriano Celentano and Fabrizio De André (in the realization of his album the good news ).

Pino Favaloro, less technically gifted, leaves the band after the release of the 45 say ; the complex, remained a public quartet still single at the beginning of 1970, behind the sun , then Di Ciocco, to facilitate the resolution of a record deal, is "lent" to ' Equipe 84 , with which recorded two albums and some 45s in the space of two years.

The drummer, however, maintains contact with old friends, which continues the activity of session man, and with which you approach the progressive : the musicians then publish a new 45s under the name Krel with little commercial outcomes.

In 1971 also follow Lucio Battisti , go to Number One , they joined Mauro Pagani , violinist and flutist coming from Dalton (but before he had played in the JB Club ), already in the ensemble of the session of the good news . The new artistic partnership takes its title PFM , and the band's sound is decisively oriented towards the new English sounds, leaving more room for virtuosity and the acoustic arrangements.

The management of the complex was atypical for the Italian music of end of sixty years : Those were not a real front-man, and their choice of music was far from fashionable "dance" in those years.

On November 14, 2007 in Milan , on the occasion of the trentacinquennale concert of PFM , Franz Di Ciocco and Franco Mussida they have exceptionally reconvened on stage at the Rolling Stone bassist Giorgio Piazza , the guitarist Pino Favaloro , Alberto Radius and Teo Teocoli , all again under the historic name "ones", recreating in fact the band. The pieces performed, interspersed with amusing anecdotes and quotes, thanks to the cabaret talent Teocoli, were Gone with the wind , their very first 45 laps , back child (with Elena Di Ciocco , daughter of Franz and famous vee-jay, acting the central segment of speech), to live together , Hush , the doll that makes no no no and classic Wilson Pickett In the Midnight Hour . The evening then continued as expected with training and PFM repertoire.

The second single, A little doll that makes no no no (cover of a song by French singer-songwriter Michel Polnareff), is a great success, while Mussida, starting to perform the military service in the navy, is replaced by Alberto Radius (coming from Simon & Penny, and who had previously played in Big Ben's) for two years.
