Marina Restuccia, known as Rei (Rome, 5 June 1969), is a singer-songwriter, percussionist and Italian drummer.

He began to record dance discs under the pseudonym of Jamie Dee, gaining notoriety even abroad (especially in Japan). In 1991 he signed a recording contract with Flying Records and produced by Roberto Ferrante, he published the first single: Burnin 'up. It makes use of the collaboration of Max & Frank Minoia for the second single Memories memories and in 1992 it publishes Two time baby. Different moods is his first album and comes out in Japan (Special love, the single extract).

In 1993, Get ready was released, the latest single for Flying. In 1994 he moved to X Energy and published Do not be shy, a single also published in many European countries. At the same time in Japan comes out the second album (Do not be shy), which ranges from dance to acid jazz. The new single People (everybody needs love) is published both in Europe and in the United States.

Meanwhile, he takes part in projects and collaborations with Blunero, JFM Project, Mistral, PF Sound. 1995 opens with the new So Good single, always with the production and supervision of Frank & Max Minoia. The single Dreaming blue published at the end of '95 and U, published in 1996, are the last two songs recorded as Jamie Dee. In fact, in 1994 the singer had signed for Virgin Records, continuing the collaboration with the musician Frank Minoia started a few years earlier.

In April 1995 the song Sola was released, recorded with a new pseudonym, Marina Rei: even the genre is new and differs from the previous production, immediately imposing itself on the radio thanks to the soul and acid jazz rhythms. In the autumn of the same year it was the turn of another successful single, Noi, and published the first self-titled album Marina Rei, entirely written by her (author of the lyrics) with Frank Minoia (composer and arranger of the music).

The consecration takes place the following year at the Sanremo Festival: Marina participates in the young section with the song Beyond these years (published for the Anglo-Saxon market with the title "Just like an Angel") and ranks third winning the prize of criticism. It is also noted for the barefoot performance, almost tracing Sandie Shaw. He attributes this choice to the desire to feel more at ease. The debut album is republished with the addition of the song Sanremo and in a few weeks he won the platinum album far exceeding 130,000 copies sold and confirming as the debut album most successful in '96, thanks also to other single extracts such as Pazza di te, I hate and love, Dreams of the soul (remixed by Todd Terry). In the same year he won the Golden Telegatto in the music contest Vote the voice in the best revelation category. The Sanremo participation is followed by a series of concerts that culminate with the performance in Piazza San Giovanni in Rome, on the occasion of the traditional May Day festival.

In 1997 he participated again in the Sanremo Festival with the song Dentro me (in the video appears the famous dancer Daniel Ezralow). The second album "Donna" stands out slightly from the previous one, maintaining the black sounds of the collaboration with Frank Minoia, and is enhanced by another collaboration with the famous saxophonist Michael Brecker, totaling over 200,000 copies sold. The album is driven by a hugely successful single, Primavera, The Real Thing cover of You to Me Are Everything, with which Marina Rei won the Disco for the Summer. The videoclip of the song sees the participation of Margherita Buy. The following tour gets a great success with the public: during the Festa di Reggio Emilia Festival, it sings in front of an audience of 20 thousand people. "Donna" is also the title of a CD released in Spain that collects the best of Marina's two albums together with three Spanish versions. Followed by numerous live concerts throughout Italy, performing both as a vocalist and percussionist.

Despite this, the artist feels the need to give herself more time and space to get to express herself in her songs, and the first sign of this change comes from the album "Animebelle" (1998), with which Marina abandons the collaboration with Frank Minoia for a new production team where Pietro and Paolo Micioni are committed to a project that is purely soul-like, but more open to international pop, of which T'innamorerò (launched in the Anglo-Saxon market under the title "Heal me with your love ", the first single extract, is the most effective example: Trilok Gurtu and Ashley Ingram, bassist of the band Imagination and producer of the soul singer Des'ree.

Participation in the Festival of Sanremo 1999, with the song Un inverno da baciare marks a watershed in the artist's career. This piece, characterized by electronic arrangements, arrives as soon as possible
