Riley B. King (September 16, 1925 – May 14, 2015), known professionally as B.B. King, was an American blues singer, electric guitarist, songwriter, and record producer. King introduced a sophisticated style of soloing based on fluid string bending and shimmering vibrato that influenced many later electric blues guitarists.

King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, and is considered one of the most influential blues musicians of all time, earning the nickname "The King of the Blues", and one of the "Three Kings of the Blues Guitar" along with Albert King and Freddie King.  King was known for performing tirelessly throughout his musical career, appearing at more than 200 concerts per year on average into his 70s. In 1956, he reportedly appeared at 342 shows.

King was born on a cotton plantation in Berclair, Mississippi, and later worked at a cotton gin in Indianola, Mississippi. He was attracted to music and the guitar in church, and began his performance career in juke joints and local radio. He later lived in Memphis, Tennessee, and Chicago, and toured the world extensively. King died at the age of 89 in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 14, 2015, from congestive heart failure and diabetic complications.

B.B. King recorded his version of "The Thrill Is Gone" in June 1969 for his album Completely Well, released the same year. King's version is a slow twelve-bar blues notated in the key of B minor in 4/4 time.  The song's polished production and use of strings marked a departure from both the original song and King's previous material. When released as a single in December 1969, the song became one of the biggest hits of King's career, appearing in the R&B chart at number three and the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart at number fifteen  and became one of his signature songs.

B.B. King's recording earned him a Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 1970 and a Grammy Hall of Fame award in 1998. King's version of the song was also placed at number 183 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. Memorable live versions of the song were included on King's albums Live in Cook County Jail (1971), Bobby Bland and B.B. King Together Again...Live (1976), and Live at San Quentin (1991).

To Know You Is to Love You is a song written by Syreeta Wright and Stevie Wonder in the early 1970s.

The duet was first released on Syreeta Wright's debut album (Syreeta, MW 113) by MoWest Records (a Motown company) in 1972.

It is also a single and an album by B. B. King, released by ABC Records in 1973, with the title song co-interpreted with Stevie Wonder (track B1 on the album To Know You Is to Love You).

By the mid-Sixties, King had arrived at his mature guitar style, characterized by bursts of sharp, precise phrases subtly inflected with the left-hand vibrato that you can hear showcased on this particularly moody hit.

As an organ broods in the background, shifting from one chord to the next like tectonic plates, King howls insistently that his woman stay locked up in their home throughout the day, away from her family. He never reveals the source of his lyrics' possessive fury.

"Rock Me Baby" is a blues standard that has become one of the most recorded blues songs of all time. It is difficult to attribute it to a single songwriter since it is based on earlier blues songs and has been interpreted and recorded by numerous artists in a variety of styles. When B.B. King's recording of "Rock Me Baby" was released in 1964, it became his first single to reach the Top 40 in Billboard magazine's Hot 100 chart.
