Aventura was an American bachata band from The Bronx, New York. Aventura was formed in 1993 by Anthony "Romeo" Santos, Henry Santos, Lenny Santos, and Max Santos, three of them are natives of The Bronx, however, having families born in the Dominican Republic; with the exception of Romeo Santos who has a Dominican father and Puerto Rican mother.

Aventura made their big break in 1999, with the hopes of breaking bachata music into the mainstream from its traditional base and fuse it with pop music; more specifically hip hop and R&B.

Aventura separated in 2011. According to Romeo Santos, the group was "on pause to do individual projects".  Romeo Santos and former members of Aventura reunited to close out the second night of Romeo Santos' sold-out Yankee Stadium concerts on July 12, 2014.
It was announced on December 1, 2015 that Aventura would have a set of concerts for the last time as a group for the whole month of February at the United Palace Theater in New York City.

Their first concert since their split started with a sold out crowd on February 4, 2016 with the final concert ending on February 28, 2016.
In 2004, the song, "Obsesión" achieved huge success in many countries, topping many international charts like France, Germany and Italy.

"Obsesión" is a song by Dominican-American bachata band Aventura. It was included on the 2002 album We Broke the Rules. It achieved huge success in many countries, topping many international charts. In France, the song held the country's number one slot for seven weeks and as of August 2014, it was the 19th best-selling single of the 21st century in France, with 565,000 units sold.

In 2004, the song was covered by 3rd Wish, featuring Baby Bash produced by Mintman, but this version was less successful than the original version (number 7 In Switzerland, number 2 in Austria, number 12 in France).

Later, in 2005, the song was covered by Los Horóscopos de Durango in their album Y Seguimos con Duranguense.
Mexican American singer Frankie J made an English and more soul-styled version of the song, featuring Baby Bash, which was called "Obsession (No Es Amor)". This version, although not having success in Latin America and Europe, was successful in the U.S., even reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
