TYROS 3

Well this has certainly been a challenge for me.

Having had the Tyros 3 since it was released in 2008, so much to learn from it. Yamaha certainly named it correctly as the 'Tyros Workstation'. It took some time figuring out how to create my own registrations. But the biggest challenge has to be creating your own styles. It's only when you attempt it that we begin to realize just how much effort goes into creating new styles.

It's taken the best part of a week, going through the manuals, trial and error tests but I've come up with something here, which I would value any and all opinions on. I decided on the 1970's glam track by Marc Bolan and T. Rex, 'I Love To Boogie'. Created a complete style with choices of three intro's and three endings. I've attached the finishing style plus MIDI and song.

I welcome your views critical or otherwise, so I can decide what needs to be altered, added, removed or maybe scrapped alltogether! One thing is for sure, creating styles is very very time consuming and an art in itself. Unless there's an easier way, I think I'd stick to changing existing styles rather than starting a new style from scratch.  Undecided

Regards

James

Hi Jimmy
Very good first attempt but I felt the drum track let you down. That very deep drum with the echo on it was to me quite out of place. Also the bass notes seem to get hidden behind this drum.
I would go more for just Kick drum Snare and cymbals

Thanks Ron and Eileen.

Eileen, your advice is always very much appreciated. I had a lot of difficulty choosing the right drum and still didn't feel right about it, which is one of the reasons why I posted it now to see what others thought. I wasn't sure if I'd spent that much time on it that I was perhaps deceiving myself on wether it was good enough or not. I will go back to it and work on the drums to eliminate the deep drum and echo and experiment with the kick drum snare and symbols. I'm trying to capture that 'glam' beat from the seventies. But all in all, I hope I'm on the right track to creating new styles.

All the best

James

Hey James,

I listened to your style on my CVP after I ran it through Jorgen's style conversion.
Must say not bad for a beginner and I take my hat off to you. I still have not figured out how to make a style.
I'm very greatful to have this forum.
